Swansea Junior Triathlon at the Penlan Leisure Centre





We look forward to welcoming you to Swansea Junior Triathlon on Sunday at Penlan leisure centre. Please see race details below-:

Race distances are as follows


Swim 50m (2 lengths)

Cycle 800m (1 loop)

Run 400m (1 loop)

Tristars 1 

Swim 150m (6 lengths)

Cycle 1600m (2 loops)

Run 800m (2 loops)

Tristars 2 

Swim 200m (8 lengths)

Bike 2400m (3 loops)

Run 1200m (3 loops )

Tristars 3 

Swim 300m (12 lengths)

Bike 3200m (4 loops)

Run 1600m (4 loops)


Registration, weather permitting, will be at the side of the leisure centre failing that we have use of the indoor sports hall.

Event will be run under full British Triathlon rules, medals and t-shirts for all competitors, trophies for top 3 in each category.

There will be Transition for bikes as shown on the below map, and another transition straight out of the pool for footwear.

The Event will be chip timed, timing chips will be issued pool side to correspond with the race number of the individual. These must be placed on left ankle marshals will be on hand to assist.

Each individual will be issued with a number pack, they will be required to label bikes around seat post and helmets front and both sides.

Penned on numbers will be applied to individuals arms

Race route

25 meter 8 lane pool swim

Red bike loop 800m (undulating grass surface )(multiple loops depending on category)

Blue run loop 400m each loop (undulating grass surface)(multiple loops depending on category)

the course will be marked out with tape and arrow signs, additionally marshals will be at all key points to guide athletes through the course,

if you are supporting please cross at the designated crossing point and do not walk on the live course

There will be a specific spectators area(marked on map) next to the finishing line which is located by the transition area so you will get good view of both bike and running action. We will have a tea and cake stall as well as a burger van to keep you all  Fuelled.

We will try and count the laps of the athletes but ultimately this will be the responsibility of the individual to do this themselves.

Any Appeals with results must be submitted to race organiser before the commencement of the Presentation. We would like to remind all parents and spectators that this event is fun for the kids. We will not tolerate any verbal abuse aimed towards race officials or marshals.


Due to the costs involved in setting up and running this event the club ( Celtic Tri) will be unable to issue refunds after 7th July  Please note that an administration charge of £5 will charged by the club for any refunds issued before this date.

If the event is cancelled due to severly inclement weather, refunds will not be provided, however all athletes will be issued with a race credit and the club (Celtic Tri) will look to arrange an alternate date.
