A bit about Victoria

Victoria qualified with a BSc Hons in Applied Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff in 2001 and has been practicing as a clinical Dietitian in the NHS for seventeen years. She now acts as a service lead for the Nutrition and Dietetic service leading a team of Dietitian’s across Hywel Dda University Health Board. She is due to complete a Post graduate degree in Sports and Exercise performance Nutrition from Leeds Beckett University in the next few weeks which will enable her to apply for SENR graduate registration and work with recreational up to elite level athletes. The SENR is a Sports and Exercise Nutrition Register – a quality mark for those qualified to a recognised level to work in nutrition and sport. To give you an idea – the register has many high profile performance sports performance nutritionists such as James Morten (Performance Nutritionist : Team Sky) Nigel Mitchell (Head of Nutrition British Cycling), Kevin Currell (University of Loughborough) Asker Jeukendrup (Performance Consultant)

Victoria mentions… I’m really excited about the prospect of working with Celtic Tri and supporting the athletes in the future. My background in the NHS means that as well as a degree in sport performance nutrition I have a sound clinical background and knowledge that I can apply to sport from managing gastro-intestinal conditions to more complex clinical conditions. The work we do as practicing Dietitian’s and SENR practitioners is evidence based and quality assured and you can rest assured it is the best quality advice.

Sport and Nutrition is my passion and I have two little boys that regularly compete in sporting events and triathlons. I am also due to compete my first sprint triathlon events this year and would like to say a huge thank-you to the club for a warm welcome and being so supportive! While awaiting my SENR registration I’m busy planning some sessions for celtic tri throughout the winter and look forward to meeting some of the athletes and discussing how I may be able to support you with optimising your nutrition/hydration as part of your training strategies for next year. I will also be busy setting up my consultancy business for younger athletes.. watch this space!! ‘Egni’ which translates to ‘Energy’ is a performance nutrition consultancy business offering nutrition advice and support to parents of young athletes competing recreationally up to elite level. I will offer a bespoke service which will include meeting with parents and the young athlete, analysing intake, planning meals, snacks, organising recovery boxes post exercise (which the athlete will prepare themselves!!) shopping trips etc. I will also be running nutrition sessions for local clubs and coaches. The goal is to empower young people to take charge of their nutrition/hydration and develop a healthy attitude to nutrition and sport as they get older! Sport is such an important part of their lives these days but it so important we nurture the right messages with respect to nutrition to help them to grow /develop and achieve their goals!

Hopefully by the sessions over the winter I will have more information for you on my ventures and really look forward to meeting and working with you all !
