It’s no Aprils fools, I’m back

Well, I’ve returned to the role of Chair after stepping down at the last AGM in March 2022 after 4 years at the helm.
I felt it right at the time to stand down. My mental health was affected, having worked from home for 2 years mainly in isolation due to Covid and struggling with depression, low mood and anxiety, I could feel my health deteriorating and I just needed a break.

I’m in a much better place now partly due to the club and having a focus on coaching which I love and taking timeout for self-care, something I think we are all guilty of not doing.
Anyway, the time away, lifestyle changes and looking after myself I feel so much better, batteries are fully recharged and good to go again.

I’d like to thank the outgoing Chair Mark Edwards for taking on the role last year when we had nobody else come forward. He can now focus on the continued development of the Junior section, and along with Richard Clifford we look forward to seeing the development plans for the junior section this year with their progression onto the Welsh Triathlon Pathway and seeing them racing for Wales one day.

We have our first committee meeting planned for Monday 3rd April and will look at where we are and where we are going and will keep you all informed soon after that meeting.

We have had had a bit of a reshuffle with existing committee members moving into other roles and we welcome Rachel Gabb onto the committee as our Social and Fundraising officer. I’m sure there will be a night out planned soon, fingers crossed!

Celtic Tri is a fantastic club with a great membership. Remember this is your club and you do have a say in how it is run and developed. We are always looking for volunteers, coaches, helpers to support the committee and anyone who wants to help with other activities including organising rides, runs or open water swimming sessions please get involved.
